Can’t decide what you want, or fancy sharing a couple of dishes around your table, then our ‘Tapatisers’ selection is the way to go. With vegetable, meat, fish and seafood choices, (including vegan and gluten free options), everything can be accompanied by our freshly baked sourdough breads.

Whether it’s a romantic meal with your loved one, a gathering of friends and family, or a special, one-off celebration, our Main Plate selections will suit every occasion. There’s also a tempting range of sweets and savouries to finish your meal, including our own, made-on-the-premises ice creams and sorbets. We’re sure you’ll find there’s something to tempt you!

Sunday Roast and All Day Menu

Sundays ought to be a day of rest, so relax and let us save you time and hassle when you come and enjoy one of our Great British Sunday Roasts. With smaller portions available for children, this is a treat for the whole family to enjoy, so booking is recommended.

Junior Choice:

Kids are always welcome at the Walnut Tree Inn and our children’s menu offers a selection of tried and tested favourites that we know little people will love.

All children’s dishes on the menu are made on the premises from fresh ingredients (with the exception of the baked beans!!) and are wholesome and without additives.

For young ones to drink we offer Pip Organic Juices, which are made entirely from 100% fruit juice with nothing added.

A trip to the restaurant at the Walnut Tree Inn, Northampton would not be complete without a visit to our newly redesigned and refurbished main bar.

Take a dash of retro flair, add a generous measure of sophisticated comfort and mix together to create the perfect environment to enjoy a drink, before or after your meal.

With a choice of locally brewed real ales, 6 international lagers, 30+ whiskies and a dedicated premium gin menu, you’ll be spoilt for choice.

If you are looking for a glass of something special to accompany your meal, there is a fine choice of reds, whites and rosés plus sparkling wines and champagnes in our specially selected wine list.

However, if you’re the designated driver (or teetotal) we also offer a wide range of soft drinks, fruit juices and mineral waters.

Make a day of it

There are some excellent walks around us. Why not take a walk through scenic countryside including stretches along the Grand Union Canal and the historic Blisworth Tunnel. Meet the Head Chef

Christian Ringsby-Burgess is one of the most charismatic and innovative chefs in Northampton; with great integrity and passion for the menus he creates and the food he prepares for our restaurant. He insists on using only seasonal produce, while ingredients are at their best.

Meat lovers will delight in his skill at selecting and trimming prime cuts and preparing the stocks and sauces that accompany them.

Without exception, our menu is prepared on the premises. Christian and his team bake their own artisanal sourdough breads, which are always available, and prepare delicious and exciting desserts for our ever popular ice cream menu.

Covid-19 – Guidance for guests eating and drinking

The safety of our guests and staff is of paramount importance to us and we ask you to observe the following guidelines.

Do not enter our premises if you have any symptoms of Covid-19 Coronavirus: a high temperature, a new, continuous cough or any loss or change to your sense of smell or taste.

Booking Notes
As of Wednesday 2nd December, guests will be only be able to book a table for one household (plus support bubble).

We cannot accept guests coming in just for a drink, alcoholic beverages can only be consumed as part of a “substantial meal”. This includes our main course, festive selection and sunday roast dishes and at lunchtime our sandwich selection.

If we have no tables available we will not be able to serve you, so we would advise pre-booking using the “book a table” facility or by calling 01604 859551.

The government requires us to take contact details from each lead guest – this will be name, along with a telephone number. These will be held securely by us until they can be deleted after 21 days and will not be used or shared for any reason except in the event of request for information for NHS track and trace.

Service and Payment
We will not be accepting cash payments. Card/ApplePay/GooglePay/SamsungPay only, preferably contactless.

We can only offer table service, waiting staff will take your orders and deliver them to table only.

Hygiene and Social Distancing
We would ask our guests to use the sanitising stations located close to every entrance into the building.

In line with government instructions our tables are at least 1.5m apart and we would ask customers to stay at their table at all times.

In between sittings, tables and chairs will be sanitised.

Please keep children under control and accompany to toilets as required and ensure their hands are thoroughly cleaned.

If you need to visit the bathrooms, we would ask you to wear a mask while moving around our premises, maintaining distance from other guests.

Bathrooms and contact points throughout the building are regularly sanitised.

Food and Drink Awards

We are very excited to be a finalist in this year’s Northamptonshire Food and Drink Awards in the Food Pub of the Year category.

Also, our vegetarian option for Sunday Roast which is a Mushroom, Ricotta and Spinach Wellington served with a creamy Marsala, wild mushroom and truffle oil sauce has been short listed for the Knorr Great British Roast Dinner competition in the Vegetarian/Vegan section.
